New: Instant $5 Rebate on Purchase of ANY AutoCheck Vehicle History Report

March 10th, 2010

We’re trying a new program out: buy any AutoCheck Vehicle History Report through VIN-History.com and we’ll give you $5 back via PayPal.

Why? We’re trying to see if there is price sensitivity on Vehicle History Reports. The $5 comes directly out of the commission we get on the sale – not Experian or anyone else.

See   http://www.vin-history.com/rebate for details.

A new way to buy vehicle history reports: Credits

November 19th, 2009

Nobody wants to use their hard-earned cash for vehicle history reports.  Now, though www.vin-history.com, there is an alternative way to pay:  credits.

20 credits = 1 vehicle history report from Experian AutoCheck.

Earn credits by completing surveys and offers.  It takes more time than simply buying the report, but it saves you the $20 you would have spent!

Please note that some credits can take up to 6 hours to hit your account (even though the page says “within minutes”).

To see how it works, click any VIN on the home page and then click “Pay With Credits”.

New Feature: The VIN Wiki – every VIN now has its own Wiki

August 27th, 2009

Today I introduced a new feature called the VIN Wiki.  This is a user-editable section for every VIN number in our database.   Simply look up the car you want information on, by VIN number, and the VIN Wiki section is at the bottom.

For example, the 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class for sale in San Francisco, CA with the VIN:  WDBRF54H96A853632.  It is noted in the VIN Wiki that there is already a free and publicly available Carfax report for this car, so if you’re considering buying it, you can save yourself the money of buying your own vehicle history report.

You can see a full list of all VIN Wiki entries made across the site, in real-time, by going to www.vin-history.com/vin-wiki

Let me know what you think about the feautre!

Welcome to the VIN-History Blog

August 27th, 2009

VIN-History.com exists to help people that are researching information about a vehicle, by VIN number, on the Internet.  There are often things you can find out about a car before you buy it just by searching for its VIN number online.  For instance, there may be recall notices on the car, it may have been stolen, it may have a salvage title, etc.

If you have ideas for how the site could be more useful, feel free to leave comments.
